«Schlingern — Text, Image, Sound» is a day-long, multi-format program at maḳām centered on Andreas Reihse’s forthcoming book “Schlingern: Kreidler & ... [2009–2014]” (maḳām editions, May 2026). The project understands “schlingern” as an artistic method: a movement between contrasting and complementary registers.
An exhibition of original drawings, photographs, and source materials unfolds in the space as a non-linear constellation. Rather than illustrating the publication, these materials reveal processes of notation, collaboration, and encounter.
Kreidler’s long-standing musical practice—exploring forms of conversation across music, text, and art, and working through transdisciplinary, contextual, and collective approaches—informs the project’s exploration of shifting relations between image, text, and sound.
Throughout the day, the installation is activated by listening sessions, screenings, and two live performances: a reading and conversation with Andreas Reihse; and a musical performance by Kreidler (Reihse, Paulick, Klein) with saxophonist Timuçin Dündar, improvising on motifs and structures from Kreidler’s repertoire.
The program unfolds as a sequence of multidisciplinary encounters within a one-day installation. A schedule will be provided, while the format remains open so visitors can enter at any time and encounter maḳām as a site for attentive listening and shared reflection, where publishing, exhibition, and performance become interwoven practices.
maḳām
maḳām is an independent, non-profit space for art, music, literature, and community in Berlin-Friedenau, initiated and run by poet and artist Seda Mimaroğlu, with art-handling and installation support by Felix von Haselberg. It is a place where experimental practices across visual, textual, and performative modes are probed and brought into dialogue.
Rooted in a layered sense of “maḳām” — a term evoking musical modes and the idea of a station or locus of creative work — the space cultivates encounters that are improvisatory, attentive, and generous. Like the musical traditions that inspire its name, maḳām foregrounds nuance, openness, and resonance.
Over time, it is building an evolving archive of works shown, ideas shared, and collaborations formed, extending outward through exhibitions, readings, performances, workshops, and community gatherings.
The space operates as a work in progress: active, porous, and held by many hands.
Founded in 2025, maḳām has hosted readings, screenings, and a group exhibition. In 2026, its programme expands to include further exhibitions, performances, readings, concerts, a poetry festival, and a regular reading group. maḳām is also home to maḳām editions, an artist-led publishing imprint for books, printed matter, and music.
