Ira Schneider “After the Storm”, Woodstock Festival 1994
Ira Schneider recently said, “I’m the grandfather of video art.“ And indeed, his history in video art is older than that of most people on the planet. Legendary is the multi-channel video installation “Wipe Cycle,” which he exhibited in 1969 with Frank Gillette in the first group video exhibition “TV as a Creative Medium“ at the Howard Wise Gallery in New York City. Since then, a tremendous amount of work and video material has been created, which Schneider continues to rearrange and process to this day. He will present around 20 shorter works and video collages from the last 50 years at Spor Klübü in a 2.5-hour screening.
