Jury members 2018
Katja Aßmann studied architecture and art history in Bochum. Since 2016, she is artistic director of the ZKR (Centre for Art and Public Space) in Berlin. Previously, she established the art organisation Urbane Künste Ruhr, where she was Artistic Director from 2012-2017.Her curatorial interest lies in the connection between art and urban space, and the involvement of the urban community in artistic processes.
Ariane Müller has been living in Berlin since a residency she undertook at KW in 1995. She is a visual artist, writer and editor of the art magazine Starship, as well as the publishing house of the same name. From 1995-2013, she worked for the United Nations Human Settlements Programme UN-HABITAT as leader of the centre for expertise for Central and Eastern Europe. She teaches at the Academy of Fine Arts in Umea, Sweden.
Marie-José Ourtilane studied at the Kunstakademie in Le Havre and in the art history faculty of Paris I Pantheon-Sorbonne before moving in 1994 to Berlin. She is the founder and member of numerous art projects, including the residency and gallery Visite ma tente and the project space General Public. She also works as a freelance curator. Since 2016 she has been leading the Project Space Festival Berlin.
Nina Rhode or ninja pleasure, became member of the artists group Honey-Suckle Company (HSC) in 1996. In 2003, the publishing house Neue Dokumente was founded, for which she developed, among others, the Magazin freier and Magazin für Befindlichkeit. The site (founded by Simone Gilges, also member of HSC) was additionally later used as a production site for exhibitions, concerts and readings. Currently, she is visiting professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Leipzig. She is founding member of Galerie Berlin in Tokyo and Smaragd Bar – Weddinger Werkstätte.
Markus Zimmermann is an artist and member of a number of collectives. While studying in Münster and Braunschweig, he established the project space Kunstklub Berlin. With Magicgruppe Kulturobjekt he has exhibited at Ludwigforum, Aachen, Kunsthal Extra City, Antwerp, and Bonnefanten Museum, Maastricht, among others. He is co-founder of the exhibition format WELT OHNE ZEIT, the collective IKONOSTASE and the movement art ahram. Zimmermann has exhibited in countless project spaces, setting up, for example, the SUPERFILIALE in landing strip, Berlin, in February 2018.
